Prophecy Link

PROPHECY is a Genuine Signed & Dated Ari Roussimoff Oil on Canvas Painting, measuring a monumentally Sized 48 1/4 x 60 inches. This Daring Work represents the most important of the Artist’s Visionary Premonitions of the Collapse of the Soviet and Communist Empires. It was painted in the year 1978. PROPHECY is a totally engaging Phantasmagoric Composition. In a period where very few even remotely considered the possibility of Eastern Europe ever being freed from the tyranny of communism, Roussimoff believed otherwise, and passionately expressed his feelings in a series of prophetic visions, of which this explosive painting is the most monumental and significant. In this huge canvas we see a world that tears itself apart. A Tower of Babel-type of empire, built by slave labour as a monument to Soviet Power crumbles. The mechanized wheels no longer function. Society, which consists of many unique individuals forced into a life of submission to faceless servitude is in chaos. Side by side among the population are found peasants and artists, the Spiritual and the Godless, the Aristocratic and the Circus Freaks, Exotic Dancers and the Everyday Workers, both Young and Old. Traffic has been forced to a drastic halt. On the right side is a Serpentine Soviet in Military Uniform looking back helplessly. In the center of the composition is a Crucifixion that falls from its place as a mere historical relic, and which also represents the finality to the suffering of the people under the oppressive regime which lated for so long. An innocent Child wearing a Thorned Crown represents the future which will be built on a foundation of Hope and Love. He wears the Crown of Thorns as a symbol of the past that had given him birth . His name is Freedom.

It should be noted that this is a very large painting that was quite difficult to photograph properly. The following pictures give you only a general idea of this exceptionally striking painting and cannot in any way do it true justice.
