”CHAMBER OF REFLECTION”

2017-2018 Acrylic on Canvas 16 x 20 inches

This outstanding and intricately detailed and beautifully colored original Surrealist Masonic painting by Internationally acclaimed artist Ari Roussimoff is titled “Chamber of Reflection”. It is signed and dated, acrylic on canvas 16 x 20 inches and was painted during 2017-2018. In Freemasonry, the Chamber of Reflection is a special room where one goes to contemplate and meditate on the meaningfulness and purpose of their life. The composition is very symbolic. The skull represents mortality. Roussimoff’s unique interpretation references life, death, hope, time, valor, love, fears, regret, loss, martyrdom, responsibility, passion, judgement and eternity. Included are Knights Templar, whose image the artist uses to convey devotion to a noble ideal. The legendary figure of Hiram Abiff carries his philosophic responsibilities on his shoulders, symbolized by a huge Square and Compass. His four hands replace the traditional beehive to show industry and unification for common good. A demon lurks below, waiting to capture and devour gullible souls who have chosen to walk an immoral path. Metaphorically, each detail corresponds to the others. This mystical metaphysical vision is based on ancient traditions. Ari Roussimoff’s distinctive paintings of Masonic subjects have have earned him much praise. They have been exhibited, widely reproduced and many of these works now belong to prominent collections throughout the world. One of Roussimoff’s Masonic paintings was also reproduced as an official Postage Stamp. In the very early 2000’s, Roussimoff was one of only a tiny number of contemporary artists who created artwork dealing with Masonry. In the year 2013 he was honored with a large exhibition of his work by the Grand Lodge of New York. His epic triptych “Parable of Light and Dark was on display for eight years at the Chancellor Robert R. Livingston Masonic Library and Museum of the Grand Lodge of New York. His painting “A Ladder Through Life” can currently be viewed on exhibit there. “conditions. Thank You
