JEWISH IMMIGRATION TO THE NEW WORLD

1973 Oil on Canvas 24 x 30 inches

"JEWISH IMMIGRATION TO THE NEW WORLD" is a rare original vintage Ari Roussimoff painting dating from the early 1970's. One of the things that makes this artwork unique within the artist's creative ouvre is that it was painted almost exclusively with use of a pallette knife. While the artist occassionaly incorporates some use of pallette knife in pictures done primarily by brush, this painting is one of the few he did where most of the work was done with a knife. The result is striking. A rich and heavily textured painting that evokes the lyrical spirit of French Impressionism. The piece commemorates early Jewish immigration to the Lower East Side of New York City. The hustle and bustle of the street is central. On the left side is the symbolic face of a Rabbi. He represents the great spirituality that Jews brought with them from the old world. On the upper right side is an evocation of Jews fleeing the Pogroms of Eastern Europe. "JEWISH IMMIGRATION TO THE NEW WORLD" is an Authentic Signed Ari Roussimoff Oil on Canvas Painting, measuring 24 x 30 inches and dating from 1973. Buyer will receive a certificate of authenticity. This painting is an absolute gem! A perfect addition to any quality collection of fine art or Judaica.
